Biography of Senator Tim Grendell Tim Grendell represents the 18th Ohio District Senate Seat. Geographically, the district is comprised of all of Lake and Geauga Counties as well as the Cuyahoga County communities of Gates Mills, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield Village, and Highland Heights.
Tim was elected to his first term in the Ohio Senate in November of 2004. Tim serves as Chair of the Judiciary - Criminal Justice Committee and as Vice Chair of the State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs Committee, and as a member of the Agriculture, and Environmental and Natural Resources Committees. Senator Grendell is also a member of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR). Prior to being elected to the Senate, Grendell served two terms as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. Senator Tim Grendell served in the United States Army from 1978 to 1983. Grendell was assigned to the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Office for the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. Tim received the Army Meritorious Service Medal for his service at the JAG School.
Grendell received his JD from Case Western Reserve School of Law and his LLM from the University of Virginia Law School. He was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in History from John Carroll University and graduated from St. Ignatius High School. Senator Grendell's major legislative accomplishments include medical malpractice tort reform, companion animal cruelty legislation, sex offender registration and notification laws, and comprehensive eminent domain reform. Senator Grendell is currently working on legislation to strengthen Ohio's drunk driving laws, to require minimum education, training, and regulation of pharmacy technicians, and to protect Lake Erie from invasive species. Senator Grendell resides in rural Geauga County with his wife, Judge Diane Grendell of the 11th District Court of Appeals and has two children and a grandson. |
